2INgage is committed to ensuring every child has the tools they need for a successful academic year.
On July 13 and July 27, an inspiring collaboration between 2INgage staff, STING Soccer team, Junior League of Abilene, and AISD staff took place at the North and South side Walmart locations in Abilene. The mission: to collect essential school supplies for local children in need.
Thanks to the community’s generous support and dedicated volunteers’ efforts, the event was a resounding success. Special recognition goes to Weldon Hurt for providing the Pitter Patter bus, which was instrumental in transporting the collected supplies. Volunteers stood outside the Walmart locations, handing out school supply lists to customers and encouraging donations to fill backpacks for the upcoming Big Country Back to School Resource Fair and Family Fun Day.
The Abilene community responded with overwhelming generosity, donating more than $1,500 in cash and more than 25 totes of school supplies. These contributions filled 1,200 backpacks, distributed at the School Supply event on Aug. 10.
The event saw an incredible turnout, with more than 1,400 attendees. Each of the 1,200 backpacks was filled to the brim with essential school supplies, providing much-needed support to local children as they prepared to head back to school.
This collaborative effort underscores the strength and generosity of the Abilene community, showcasing a collective commitment to ensuring that every child has the tools they need for a successful academic year.
“Having community involvement is crucial in supporting our children who are facing unique challenges. The community can help stand in the gap and meet these basic needs for children to start the school year on an equal footing with their peers. When the community comes together it also fosters a sense of solidarity and responsibility for our community to take care of one another.” – Kaycee Robles, VP of Permanency.
