ABILENE SHOWED UP!!

On July 13th and July 27th, 2INgage staff, STING Soccer team, Junior League of Abilene and AISD staff held a school supplies drive at the North and South side Walmart. Big thanks to Weldon Hurt for letting us use the Pitter Patter bus to haul the supplies in. All volunteers stood outside and handed out school supply lists to the Walmart customers in hopes of receiving donations of school supplies to fill backpacks for this year’s Big Country Back to School Resource Fair and Family Fun Day.

The Abilene community showed up just like they always do and donated over $1500 in cash and over 25 totes of school supplies! These donations filled the 1,200 backpacks for the School Supply event on August 10, 2024.

There were more than 1,400 people in attendance, and we gave out 1,200 backpacks full of school supplies!!! This event was a true testament to the power of community collaboration and the generosity of our partners. It was heartwarming to witness the smiles on the faces of these young students as they received their backpacks, knowing that they now have the tools they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.

We believe that education is the key to a brighter future, and through initiatives like this, we are committed to supporting the educational needs of our local youth. We would be honored if you could help us spread the word about this impactful event and the difference it has made in the lives of these children.

Having community involvement is crucial in supporting our children who are facing unique challenges. The community can help stand in the gap and meet these basic needs so that children can start the school year on an equal footing with their peers. When the community comes together, it also fosters a sense of solidarity and responsibility for our community to take care of one another.

Congratulations, Megan Sweet, for completing the requirements to be a state facilitator of Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE)! Megan applied for this opportunity in November 2023. She completed additional CFE E-Learning, attended a virtual session and observation form for a training hosted by Texas CASA, read a facilitation book, participated in a Facilitator Workshop, prepared an activity at the workshop and presented it to peers, signed up for 1:1 coaching sessions and last but not least finished her final step of Train the Trainer today! Congrats Megan! We are very proud of your dedication and commitment to FAMILY!

Myranda Garcia

Permanency Case Manager

In June, Myranda helped a seemingly impossible situation have a happy ending! She saw that a 12-year-old boy was reunified with his father after 11 years. This heartwarming reunion couldn’t have happened without her dedication. She worked tirelessly to ensure the boy felt comfortable meeting his father and extended family through Zoom calls.

Myranda’s exceptional efforts culminated in an extended family visit at our office before the hearing. The dad, stepmom and grandmother traveled all the way to Texas, and they are now on their way back to California, ready to make up for lost time. Thank you, Myranda, for your incredible dedication and compassion in reuniting this family. Your hard work has truly made a difference!
